From dusk till dawn

10  JAN
FRI
One night is all that stands between them and freedom. But it's going to be a hell of a night.

Directed by  Robert Rodriguez
Written by  Robert Kurtzman, Quentin Tarantino
Starring:  George Clooney (Seth Gecko)
Quentin Tarantino (Richard Gecko)
Harvey Keitel (Jacob Fuller)
Juliette Lewis (Kate Fuller)
Runtime: 108 minutes
Plot:
Seth Gecko and his younger brother Richard are on the lam after a bloody bank robbery in Texas. They escape across the border into Mexico and will be home-free the next morning, when they pay off the local kingpin. They just have to survive 'from dusk till dawn' at the rendezvous point, which turns out to be a Hell of a strip joint. - Tad Dibbern

Comment:
This movie is really out of the usual schemes (the touch of Quentin Tarantino is quite evident) and this is a good starting point. The first half ot the movie is great, it is both cruel and entertaining. However the second half is a bit deluding as the whole story seems to degenerate to a plain horror movie. It is nice to see how the various things happens quickly (eg. the death of one of the main characters), the setting is really curious and the special effects are well made.

The movie is also supported by a very good performance of both George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino.
The ending is quite predictable as a whole but the details (eg. the last scene) aren't so obvious which is exactly what I like.

Rating: 7.8  ****
