Comment:
After last year's Mars Attacks! we have another mixed Sci-Fi and comical movie, featuring hilarious scenes and dialogues, great special effects and strong action. However, these movies are quite different, while the former is definitely a parody of the 'alien invading Earth' genre, MIB is a more seriously-looking but still terribly funny Sci-Fi movie.

While the basis of the plot may recall the paranoid attitude of The X-Files (ie. the aliens hiding between the humans), the script follows a completely different approach resulting in a lot of funny situations, including famous people being aliens in disguise, such as Sylvester Stallone and Elvis (!), weirdly looking aliens (sometimes wearing a human 'mask') and short but witty dialogues (eg. the two Centaurian communications board operators named Woiebgck and Bob!).

The action scenes are very good, supported by spectacular visual and sound effects, the actors are particularly suited in their roles and although I can hardly be considered a Will Smith fan, I enjoyed his performance. There are no seriously dramatic moments, even the more tense scenes are either short of alleviated by some amusing joke.

The plot is weak and questionable, but in this kind of movie you can't expect anything more and it's not sensible to criticize it too much. Incidentally, the last scene is particularly interesting and profound: a zoom out from Earth to the galaxy (which looked incredibly similar to the first scene of Contact), the galaxy itself inside a glass ball and a 'big' alien playing marbles with it!
